Whenever I meet new people as I travel, the most natural thing they ask about me is where I'm from. The problem is, I don't know how to answer that question...

I was born in Ukraine, but then moved to Chicago when I was 8, then moved to Washington, DC after college for work, then moved to San Francisco, I officially live in Seattle, but I'm traveling around the world.

San Francisco is the easiest answer, since that's where I lived for the past 5.5 years and it felt like a place where I truly belonged, but now that I've gotten some distance from it and have had new experiences, it no longer feels like home.

The truth is, I hate identifying myself with one place. I don't feel like any place is my home, but at the same time, everywhere is my home.

I'm a private person, so when someone asks me a simple question like where I am from, it's hard for me to tell them my whole life story and explain that I don't have a home / home is wherever I am. But now that I think about it, that could be a start of a good conversation, so maybe that's a good thing.

I wish we could all just be from Earth.
